Monkey Island or Cat Dua Island?
Monkey Island is about 1 km away from the Cat Ba town. To get to Monkey Island, tourists usually take a boat from Beo wharf about 10 minutes passing Cai Beo fishing village, passing some small islands and then proceeding to Monkey Island. Monkey Island has a circumference of about 3 km. This is a vasty sandy island formed by millions of waves and winds bringing sand, rocks, coral, shellfish, shells, shrimps and crabs to the foot of the mountain that created a sandy beach stretching for miles.
The island is called Cat Dua (Sandy-Pineapple) because there are many wild pineapple trees on the island, pineapple looks delicious but inedible. People who go fishing often take it to soak to cool drinking water or dry to treat diabetes. It is also an ideal place to swim with clear blue water and white sand formed from the coral debris.
The official name of the island is Cat Dua, but people as well as tourists often called Monkey Island because the island has more than 20 monkeys, were released by forest rangers. Due to frequent contacting with tourists, the monkeys are very brave. They often feed and play around the area where many tourists are gathered, even eat food from tourists.
Sometimes they are naughty, poke visitors and make some guests startled. However, the monkeys here are very cute, capturing the love of most tourists especially children.

Monkey Island has two beaches in the form of the arc that is beach Cat Dua 1 and beach Cat Dua 2. In which beach Cat Dua 1 is longer and there is military camp garrison.
