Bai Tho Mountain – Halong Bay
Hearing the name of Halong City, it was thought about Halong Bay, the 7th Wonder of the world, with long white sandy beaches or local delicious and tasteful restaurants but there is a very little known beautiful attraction, which offers tourists a very special panoramic view of Halong. That is Bai Tho Mountain.

Bai Tho is a karst limestone mountain which has more than 200 meters of the height lying in the middle of Halong city. It has a very special geography formation: a shaft staying on land and the other located in the water.
Bai Tho mountain has not only the beautiful sightseeings but also a rich of long history and unique culture. Long Tine Pagoda is a famous pagoda of Halong city. Tourists often come there to enjoy the peaceful and quiet atmosphere and ask for good luck before starting the trip climbing to the mountain top.
The road to the top of Bai Tho Mountain seems not really easy and smooth. The entrance to the root of the mountain also is not easy to find out, just a small alley among the small block of the locality. You should know that “Bai Tho” the name of the mountain means “Poem”. It was said that the name of the mountain was due to King Le Thanh Tong wrote a poem when visiting there in 1468. Nowadays, we still can see a lot of poems on written by persons visiting this destination, including Trinh Cuong, a king of Vietnamese history.
From the top of the mountain, you can see the whole view of Halong city, from small and lovely boats on the sea in Bai Chay area to small houses at the root of the rock island, one of the unique feature of Halong Bay.

Asking for direction: Every local person in Halong knows about Bai Tho Mountain but not everybody gets the clear direction to the top of the mountain. You should ask the local people there for a clear direction to get it easier and safely.
