Quang Ninh province received more than 8.4 million visitors in the first seven months of 2018, an annual increase of 26%, including over 2.8 million foreign arrivals, an annual increase of 17%.

During the seven-month period, the northern province also earned over VND14 trillion (US$602 million) worth of tourism revenue, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2017.

Despite unpredictable weather in July, Quang Ninh welcomed 916,000 visitors and gained total tourism revenues of VND1.7 trillion in July (US$73.1 million).

The increasing number of tourists travelling to the northern province was due to the organisation of a series of activities within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2018, in addition to the strengthened management over tourism activities which has led to an improvement in tourism quality.

Quang Ninh has also become more hospitable and attractive to tourists thanks to many good deeds by the local people and authorities, including handing in mislaid property to tourists or assisting international tourist delegations that were “abandoned” by tour operators, among others.

The provincial authorities also set the target of putting the Bach Dang Bridge into operation in early September this year in order to connect Ha Long with Hai Phong, contributing to facilitating visitors that wish to visit tourist sites in Ha Long, Van Don and Mong Cai in Quang Ninh.

In addition, Quang Ninh International Airport is scheduled to operate its first commercial flights in late 2018 in a bid to promote international tourists to the province.

With such moves, the province’s target of welcoming 12 million visitors this year may be realised.
